The Geological Museum of the University of Wrocław belongs to the oldest institutions of its type in Poland, and in Europe. It provides a vast collection of rocks, animal and plant fossils. Gathering objects from over 400 individual collectors we have reached more than 30,000 specimens in our collection.
For Coding da Vinci hackathon we do offer you our Sośnica fossils sub-collection. It is part of our palaeobotanical collection, which consists of imprints of leaves and shoots as well as parts of carbonized and fossilized plants. They are exclusively terrestrial flora from the Devonian to the Quatenary; Carbon, Paleogene and Neogene are particularly richly represented. The collection of Miocene flora from Sośnica, collected in the 19th and 1960s, and redesigned in the years 1977 – 2019 is particularly noteworthy among all the rich collections of the Geological Museum of the University of Wrocław.
